Wanda
Beach.
A workout by the sea, a long walk north and plenty of room to make a day of it. Wanda is one of our favourite places to get outside in Cronulla.

Work out with a view.
For us, Cronulla’s best workout park, with exercise equipment, a full basketball court and a separate shooting key.
There’s a playground and bike paths too. See council’s reserve information.
Give the ocean your attention.
Beautiful on a calm day. Powerful when the swell arrives.
We love Wanda for a swim when conditions are calm. There’s a long stretch of sand, room to settle in and that open view along Bate Bay.
But this beach can get very rough, and the currents and rips can be dangerous. Always swim between the red and yellow flags while patrols are operating. Our rule here is simple: no flags, no swim.
When the swell is big, watching is an outing in itself. Stay up on the coastal path or grass and enjoy the surf from above. Check council’s lifeguard information before planning a swim.
Keep walking along the sand.
One of our favourite beach walks.
Head north from Wanda towards Greenhills and Boat Harbour and the beach opens out ahead of you. We love this stretch for a long walk, with the ocean on one side and the dunes on the other.
It’s a lovely way to spend time together, whether you’ve come for exercise or just want to wander. Bring water and sun protection, stay on the beach and marked access paths, and leave the protected dunes alone.
Taking your dog? The designated Greenhills off-leash area begins north of beach access Gate 5 and operates at set times. Dogs aren’t allowed on Wanda’s sand south of that point, and must stay on a lead in Wanda Reserve. Check council’s Greenhills dog beach rules and boundaries before setting off.

A coffee. A lesson. A reason to stay.
Grab a bite at Wanda Top Shop on Mitchell Road, or stop at the surf club café. The beach kiosk opens in summer.
Cronulla Surfing Academy runs lessons for kids and adults from the club.
For an event with an ocean view, the upstairs Founders Room offers venue hire. Check with the venue for bookings.
Park up and make a day of it.
There’s a lot more parking to work with here than around central Cronulla. Look around Don Lucas Reserve and Marine Esplanade, but check the signs and allow for a busy summer weekend.
We allow about a 30-minute walk from Cronulla Station. Follow the beachfront north through North Cronulla and Elouera and enjoy the coast on the way.
Public toilets and beach showers are available around the surf club, with picnic areas and accessible amenities at Don Lucas Reserve. Bring towels, sunscreen and water, plus a ball or your workout gear if that’s your plan. See the Wanda Beach visitor information for the location and facilities.

Come to Wanda with us. A workout by the sea, a walk along the sand and a look around the surf club are all part of the outing.
