01 / On the sand

Bring a ball.
Find your spot.

A wide beach between North Cronulla and Wanda.

Elouera is a lovely place when you want room to spread out. There’s plenty of sand for a towel, a game with the kids or a few hours doing very little.

You won’t find a dedicated playground here like the one at North Cronulla, but the beach gives the kids plenty of room to play. Bring a ball, keep away from other beachgoers and make your own fun.

The ocean deserves your attention. The surf can get big and the currents can run hard, so swim between the red and yellow flags while patrols are operating. Keep the kids close and ask the lifeguards if you’re unsure about conditions.

If there are no flags, choose another patrolled spot for a swim. Check council’s lifeguard information when planning your visit.

Coffee first.
Stay for lunch.

Bianchini’s Café is right here when you want a coffee, breakfast or something to eat after a swim. We love being able to stop for a bite without leaving the beachfront.

For a longer lunch, Summer Salt sits above the sand with the ocean in front of you. It’s another reason to make time for Elouera, whether you’ve spent the morning on the beach or come down just for a meal.

Have a look at Bianchini’s and Summer Salt’s menus and bookings when deciding where to stop.

03 / Take your time

A spot on the hill. A view worth keeping.

One of our favourite places for the changing light.

We rate Elouera as one of Cronulla’s best spots at sunrise and around sunset. Sit up on the grassy hill, look over the sand and let the action pass you by.

In the morning, the ocean is right in front of the rising sun. Later, even though the sun sets behind the town, the light across the beach and sky can be beautiful. You don’t have to be in the water to enjoy an afternoon here.

It can also get very, very windy. Hold onto your hat, keep your loose things together and bring a layer if you’re staying to watch the evening light. Some days the breeze makes itself part of the outing.

04 / Getting here

Park up.
Head to the sand.

We find there’s more parking to work with here than around the central Cronulla beachfront, though a good summer day can still bring a crowd. There’s beachside parking around Mitchell Road. Check the signs, especially for summer time limits, before heading down.

Public toilets are available nearby. Pack swimmers, towels, sunscreen and drinking water, with a ball for the kids if you’re making a beach day of it. See council’s Elouera Beach information for the location and facilities.

For a walk before or after your swim, follow the beachfront south towards North Cronulla and South Cronulla, or head north towards Wanda. A coffee, a stroll and a little time on the hill make a lovely outing for the two of you as well.
