Straight answers

The questions everyone asks us.

Why do I need my own YouTube API key?

YouTube gives you all the data you need for free through its official API. It gives you exactly what YouTube holds, nothing is sampled and nothing is guessed. That’s the exact data you need for a report and it’s what we read. Your API key stays in your browser and talks to YouTube directly; it never passes through us, and we never see it.

It takes about five minutes to set up, once, and we walk you through every click. If you’re not sure how to do it we even have an automated AI way to assist you. There is simply no better way to get the exact data straight from YouTube.

Why do I need a Google account to sign up?

We use Google to sign you in. You also need a Google account to create the YouTube API key that lets Who Says So find videos and read their comments.

You don’t need a Gmail address. You can use a Google account linked to your existing email. If you don’t have one, you can create a free Google account.

How do I get started?

First, create your Who Says So account with Google.

Want unlimited reports and comment alerts? Subscribe for $29 a month, connect ChatGPT or Claude Pro, then add your YouTube API key.

Want a single report? Add your YouTube API key, choose videos or keywords, then pay for that report. No subscription needed.

We guide you through each step.

Do I need an AI API key?

No. With a Who Says So subscription, you can use your existing ChatGPT or Claude Pro account to process reports and comment alerts.

Or use our AI and pay for reports individually, without a subscription.

You can also use an OpenAI or Claude API key. This keeps your Who Says So AI usage separate from your regular AI account. You pay separately for that usage, which may reduce your costs depending on how much you use.

Is this allowed by YouTube?

Yes. The Rob and Sue Party of 2 travel research tool is powered by WhoSaysSo.app, which is owned by Rob. It uses the official YouTube Data API and has passed YouTube’s API compliance review. Every report is built the way YouTube’s policies require, carries the Developed with YouTube mark under YouTube’s branding guidelines, and links every excerpt back to the comment it came from on YouTube. We report what people said; we don’t scrape, store or resell YouTube’s data.

How does the classification work, and can I trust it?

Every comment is read once and put in one of eight kinds: praise, complaint, question, tip, correction, memory, hate or other, and given a lean: positive, negative or neutral. Every percentage on the report carries the count behind it, and every count opens the comments it was made from, so you never take a figure on faith. If a video had its comments switched off, or anything couldn’t be read, the report says so on its face rather than pretending.
