Darook
Park.
A beach, a picnic in the shade and beautiful views everywhere you look. For us, Darook Park is one of the very best places in Sydney.

One of
our favourites.
On the shores of Gunnamatta Bay, further down the Cronulla peninsula.
We rate Darook Park as one of the very best places in Sydney. You’ve got the beach, shady spots for a picnic and views across Gunnamatta Bay. It’s the sort of place we’d bring you if you wanted a relaxed afternoon by the water.
In our experience, it’s rarely crowded. We love being able to settle in without feeling squeezed between everyone else’s towels. Bring your swimmers, find some shade and enjoy the view.
The beach sits away from the ocean surf, with trees and bush behind the sand. There’s plenty to look at, whether you’re down by the water or sitting back in the park.

Sand, rocks
and room to play.
We love this spot for families. There’s sand to play on, a rocky shoreline to explore and trees for a shady break.
Little ones can spend an afternoon looking at the rocks and playing outside, with an adult close by. Pack a picnic and give them time to enjoy it.
Just around
the corner.
A little beach tucked beyond the southern end of Darook Beach.
There’s a little beach around the southern corner of Darook Beach that feels like a secret. It’s one of the details we love about this place: you can enjoy the main beach, then have a look a little further along the shoreline.
Check the tide and your footing before going around the rocks. If the way is covered by water, leave it for another visit. The main beach and the park already give you plenty to enjoy.

Come down to
Darook Park.
Come along as we continue around the Cronulla peninsula. We’re at Darook Park, with its sandy beach, shady trees and rocky shoreline. Have a look around with us and see why we love it here.
Pack lunch.
Find some shade.
Bring lunch, drinks, sunscreen, a towel and something to sit on. There are public toilets and a drinking-water bubbler, but we’d come with the food and supplies we need for the afternoon.
That’s how we’d enjoy Darook: a picnic under the trees, some time on the beach and a chance to relax together. You don’t need to organise much. Just bring what you need and choose a spot you like.
If you’re exploring the bay in a small tinny, Darook is an appealing place to include in your day. Check local boating signs and NSW’s safe-distance rules before approaching the shore, and keep clear of swimmers.
