Projects, photos and storage

Projects and imported images are stored in this browser's local storage/IndexedDB. Project backups and rendered files download to the browser's chosen location. Clearing site data, changing profiles or storage eviction can remove local projects. Keep separate backups. Signing in does not copy projects to another computer.

Map and routing requests

Street maps request tiles, styles, fonts and sprites from tiles.openfreemap.org. Those requests expose the connection and viewed area to that provider. The offline map option uses retained local data with limited detail.

Road/path calculations send chosen coordinates to the Map Animator server, which uses the installed routing engine and OSM-only databases. Browser video rendering does not send video frames or uploaded photo bytes to an external rendering service.

Enabling 3D mountains requests elevation tiles from s3.amazonaws.com/elevation-tiles-prod (Mapzen terrain via AWS Open Data), exposing the requested area and connection to that provider. Loading/installing routing coverage makes server requests to download.geofabrik.de. There is no public routing-service fallback.

Accounts and browser recognition

The Map Animator account service stores email addresses, password hashes, hashed session/recovery credentials, billing references and export-allowance records on the app server. Passwords are not stored in project files or browser account storage. Recovery and verification emails are sent through Resend. Check your spam folder if an expected message does not arrive.

First-party HttpOnly cookies maintain login and recognise this browser's free-video allowance. Self-hosted FingerprintJS 5.3.0 also derives a browser identifier; vendor monitoring is disabled. The app sends that identifier to its own account service for the allowance check and stores a keyed hash, not the underlying fingerprint components. Browser recognition is separate from login.

Stripe hosted Checkout and its customer portal handle payment details. The app retains Stripe customer/payment references and plan/billing records; it does not collect card numbers. The editor does not include advertising or analytics. The surrounding website has its own privacy policy.

Your materials and attribution

Supply maps, photos, tracks and artwork where you have the necessary rights. A rights field records what you supply; it does not verify or grant a licence. Third-party credits and source offers are available through the notices page and supported outputs.

Use and limitations

This is an illustration tool. Animated road/path/ferry geometry is not live navigation, proof of lawful access or a timetable. Browser/device capability and documented size limits apply.

Your plan

Editing and previews are free after you create and verify an account. The free allowance is one video of up to 30 seconds. Paid plans are $10 AUD per month or $99 AUD for a lifetime licence, with unlimited video exports within the tool's duration and device limits. Manage your plan from My account. Cancelling a monthly subscription stops future renewals; paid access continues until the displayed end date.
