# Retained official Natural Earth land source — cached source and approved data-only derivation

One Natural Earth1:10million land archive, version5.1.1. Exact original ZIP, internal README/VERSION/PRJ/SHP/SHX/DBF/CPG, original official landing/terms HTML and HTTP headers are retained, not modified. [Manifest](manifest.json) records actual source URLs, download-path failures, bytes/hashes/version and the single successful archive GET.

The official [terms](https://www.naturalearthdata.com/about/terms-of-use/) state that all Natural Earth raster/vector versions are public domain, allow modification/commercial use and do not require credit. Existing optional project credit stays unchanged. The retained HTML is evidence, not application markup to execute. No licence/source statement here is a survey-accuracy or complete product legal-clearance claim.

The owner approved bounded data-only derivation after investigation b926065. See [regional API and test evidence](../../docs/regional-land-data-contract.md) and the [derived manifest](../../assets/map-data/cape-baily-land-manifest.json). The new land/mask/source-coast bundle is generated but is not bound to any renderer. The acquisition manifest remains the unchanged historical source record. The existing110m asset/manifest and OSM snapshot/graphs remain unchanged. Do not use the original land polygon's artificial partition edges or regional clipping-rectangle closures as coastline.
